Creating a Tradition: 200 of the Best Dollars You'll Ever Spend

It's here! One of my favorite times of the year... courtyard movie time!

Last fall we spent countless nights in our courtyard watching movies, eating junk food, having a few drinks, and sitting around the fire.. and it was wonderful! We had "date nights", double dates, and parties all in our courtyard. (We may have watched Family Stone about four times out there)! Having a new baby it provided the perfect option. Once Grady went to bed we'd take the monitor down there and enjoy our evening.

And, when true winter hit, we were able to add our fire pit to the mix. It quickly became a new favorite tradition.

We were able to setup our outdoor theater for about $200 bucks. Here is what you need:

1. A DVD player - This doesn't need to be anything fancy. The one we use was $29.99 at Target.

2. A projector - This is the one we purchased and it works great! ($57.99)

3. A block rocker - If you're not familiar with block rockers they are portable speakers. You don't have to have one but we love ours, especially during parties. ($120)

Some people may tell you that you need a screen, but we have found a white bed sheet works perfectly.

We spent many wonderful nights in the courtyard last fall and are excited to be doing so again. Some nights were just the two of us watching one of our favorites and enjoying a drink after Grady went to bed. A few nights my niece and nephew came over and we watched movies, ate junk food and had a fire. Other nights we had parties with 30+ people out there. I look forward to doing this with Grady and his friends in a few years and look forward to seeing how this tradition grows.
