Our First Little Project
When we first moved into our house I was anxious to get something done and decorated. I had a lot of things in mind, but being 8 months pregnant, I knew I should start small.
We have a bar that connects our kitchen to our living room. All it really needed was some lighting, a few stools, and a little bit of décor. It was the perfect place to start.
We knew before we ever moved in that we would be decorating farmhouse style. We had received some cute plates with farm animals on them for our wedding. I decided the bar area would be the perfect spot for them.
The beam overhead was prewired for pendant lights. I spent hours looking at lights. I finally landed on caged lights with Edison bulbs after seeing something similar on Fixer Upper.
Jacob and I both had stools from our houses before we met, but when I tried to picture them in our bar, they didn’t seem to fit. I was scrolling through Pinterest one day and discovered tractor seat stools. I searched high and low, but they were SUPER expensive everywhere I looked. I gave up hope. Then, one day, an ad on Facebook for tractor seat stools. “I hate web cookies…” I thought as I clicked the ad anyways. It was a dream come true… my seats… for less than $100 each! AND THERE WAS A SALE!
I remember the day we started to piece the bar area together. The pendant lights showed up with Chinese wiring so Jacob had to talk on the phone with his dad to decipher their color equivalents. Not the slow-down I wanted, but it all came together. It is such a small section of our house, and definitely the easiest project we’ve done, but having that one little area done made me feel a sense of peace… we were home.
